The Broadcom® BCM56999 is a high-radix, high-bandwidth network switching device supporting up to 64 × 400GbE, 128 × 200GbE, 256 × 100GbE, 256 × 40GbE, 256 × 25GbE, or 256 × 10GbE ports. The device features a maximum of 32 integrated Jupiter SerDes cores, each with eight integrated 106-Gb/s PAM4 SerDes transceivers and associated PCS for native support of numerous physical connectivity options, enabling a broad range of media, speed, and reach. The BCM56999 delivers high-bandwidth, glueless network connectivity of up to 25.6 Tb/s on a single chip.The integrated optical engines enable direct high-speed I/O to the BCM56999 using 128 single-mode optical fibers to the front panel. Co-packaging with optics eliminates the need for pluggable optical transceivers, lowering the overall power consumption of the switch box, reducing the congestion at the front panel, and enabling improved thermal management. To propagate 25.6 Tb/s of bandwidth, there are four 32-channel duplex integrated optical engines, and the remaining electrical lines are routed to the front panel to support direct attach cables (DACs) or traditional pluggable transceivers. Each optical engine resembles four individual 800G DR8 optical transceivers, and each module is compliant with standard CMIS for module management using standard I2C communication protocol. For easy serviceability and thermal management, the laser source is provided by four pluggable remote laser source ARLM-96D8DLMZ devices located at the front panel. If a different topology is required, the amount of integrated optical engines and remote laser sources can be increased.
