This solution extends the advantages of transition mode – high efficiency with low-costcomponents – to higher power ratings than previously possible. By utilizing a Natural Interleaving™technique, both channels operate as masters (that is, there is no slave channel) synchronized tothe same frequency. This approach delivers inherently strong matching, faster responses and ensuresthat each channel operates in transition Mode. UCC28064 improves line transients response ofUCC28063 because has implemented line feed forward compensation. Improved light load efficiency isobtained thanks to burst mode operation. Burst mode and phase management operation can be set andfine tuned, according to application needs, thanks to flexibility in configuration of thesefeatures.
Expanded system level protections feature input brownout and dropout recovery, outputover-voltage, open-loop, overload, soft-start, phase-fail detection, and thermal shutdown. Theadditional failsafe overvoltage protection (OVP) feature protects against shorts to an intermediatevoltage that, if undetected, could lead to catastrophic device failure. Advanced non-linear gainresults in rapid, yet smoother response to line and load transient events. Special line-dropouthandling avoid significant current disruption. Strong reduction of bias current when not switchingduring burst mode operation, improves stand-by performance.
