Skyworks SKY77606 is a hybrid multimode, multiband PowerAmplifier Module (PAM) that supports 2.5G and 3G handsets, andoperates efficiently in GSM, EGPRS, EDGE and WCDMA modes.

The PAM consists of a GSM800/EGSM900 PA block, aDCS1800/PCS1900 PA block, separate blocks for WCDMAoperating in low / high bands, a logic control block for multiplepower control levels, and band enable functions in both cellularand UMTS. RF I/O ports internally matched to 50 Ω minimize thenumber of external components. Extremely low leakage currentmaximizes handset standby time.

GSM/EDGE: The SKY77606 uses a new compact architecture tosupport GSM850, EGSM900, DCS1800 and PCS1900 bands. ThePAM also supports 2.5G Class 12 Enhanced General Packet RadioService (EGPRS) multi-slot operation and EDGE linear modulation.

WCDMA: The SKY77606 uses Switched Load Insensitive PowerAmplifier (SLIPA) circuitry to support WCDMA, High-SpeedDownlink Packet Access (HSDPA), and High-Speed Uplink PacketAccess (HSUPA) modulations at moderate antenna VoltageStanding Wave Ratio (VSWR). This functionality covers multiplebands for 3GPP, including bands I, VIII, and operates at differentpower modes.

The module is fully controllable via three line logic and bandenableinterfaces. The InGaP/GaAs die and passive componentsare mounted on a multi-layer laminate substrate and theassembly encapsulated with plastic overmold. The SKY77606 is acompact, low profile, Surface Mount Technology (SMT) package,which allows for a highly manufacturable, low cost solution.
