The BCM56260 is Broadcom’s tenth generation of the StrataXGS® product line. With worst case power consumption as low as 3.5W, the BCM56260 family is ideally suited for power-sensitive Carrier Ethernet access applications like microwave all-ODU, NID/EAD, and mobile backhaul edge access.The BCM56260 family offers unprecedented system function integration for system BOM reduction. It combines a feature-rich Carrier grade Layer2/Layer3 switch, host processor, Service Activation Test (SAT) engine, and telecom DPLL into a single device. The comprehensive OAM feature integration completely removes the need for an additional OAM engine device. The BCM56260 supports an integrated packet buffer with an external packet buffer expansion option, utilizing  economical DDR3 SDRAM technology. The BCM56260 is capable of handling L2 switching, L3 routing, Metro VPN tunneling, and Access Control Lists (ACLs). The BCM56260's virtualized architecture enables seamless support for VPLS, VPWS, MPLS-TP, PBB, and PBB-TE tunneling.
