The S3F8S5A MCU, a member of Zilog's S3F8 Family of S3 MCUs, is designed specifically for keypads and appliances with LCD displays, plus automotive clocks and audio systems featuring LCD panels.

The S3F8S5A MCU offers a fast and efficient Z8-compatible CPU, 48 KB of Flash memory, 1040 bytes of RAM, and a wide range of integrated peripherals including an 18x8 LCD controller, four comparators, and a specialized PWM module, which interoperate to provide autonomous control of power and system protection. An 8-channel, 10-bit ADC can be used for current measurement and user input control.

The S3F8S5A MCU is designed to be a direct replacement for the S3F84VB device and a suggested replacement for S3F848A, S3F84NB, S3F89235, S3F8275, S3F8274, and S3F8278 devices.
