M5608T is an USB2.0 PC camera controller including abundant innovative and competed functions. Here is the introduction to highlight some outstanding features.

The USB specifications revision 2.0 with the operational rate up to 480 Mbit/s. Alcor’s compliance-proven USB 2.0 controller design also provides the standard isochronous-in USB video class feature for the optimized system compatibility. The peripheral controller supports USB suspend and resume operations to further reduce the actual operating and suspend-mode power consumption for the USB-based system.

M5608T built-in USB transceiver and serial interface engine (SIE) to be fully compliant with high/full-speed USB specifications revision 2.0/1.1 at operation rate up to 480/12 Mbits/sec. The compliance-proven transceiver’s design provides two standard differential single-ended connections for data transmission and reception. With existed functional support to USB suspend and resume operation, M5608T utilizes Alcor proven low-power CMOS technology to provide cost-effective integration for the USB-based peripheral system.

The M5608T embeds a high-performance MCU to serve the USB engine to enable an exceptional data transfer performance through the USB bus. The embedded MCU unit also provides a very flexible programmability to ease the operations for image access.


Alcor M5608T provides programmable 8-bit video data bus with general serial control interface for video transfer/control with target CMOS image sensor. With design integration and programmability flexibility in mind, M5608T could be easily programmed to connect with varieties of CMOS image sensors, the resolution ranged from VGA to UXGA.


M5608T is also embedded several ISP engines for post image processing. Via Gamma/Hue/Saturation/Contrast/Brightness engines, M5608T can easily output the image with special effect as the UVC1.1 defined. WOI and scalar-down engines are also built in M5608T for easily achieving the pan and tile function.


M5608T Built-in 3 regulators for BOM cost and PCB area saving. One regulator is designed to convert 3.3V source-in to 2.5V-to-2.8V adjustable power out for sensor. And, the other one regulator is designed to convert 3.3V source-in to 1.2V-to-1.8V adjustable power out for sensor. Another one regulator is designed to convert 3.3V source-in to 1.8V for M5608T.


With on-chip clock synthesizer, M5608T is allowed to be programmed as various set of clock speed for performance and power saving. Additional clock output with various clock speed ranged up to 80MHz is provided for video capture module.
