Thememory is accessed via a simple Serial PeripheralInterface (SPI) compatible serial bus. The bus signalsrequired are a clock input (SCK) plus separate data in(SI) and data out (SO) lines. Access to the device iscontrolled through a chip select (CS) input, allowing anynumber of devices to share the same bus. There are two other inputs that provide the end userwith additional ?exibility. Communication to the devicecan be paused via the hold pin (HOLD). While thedevice is paused, transitions on its inputs will beignored, with the exception of chip select, allowing thehost to service higher priority interrupts.
