The MEC140X/1Xfamily is a highly-configurable, mixed signal, advanced I/O controllerarchitecture. MEC1408 is a keyboard and embedded controller customized fornotebooks and tablet platforms. It incorporates a 32-bit MIPS32 M14KMicrocontroller core with 192KB of closely-coupled SRAM for code and datathat loads from SPI Flash. Designers can leverage the host SPI-flash (usedfor BIOS storage) for non-volatile EC firmware storage, as a cost-effectivesystem solution.Microchip’s MEC14XX family reduces the system bill-of-materials cost byproviding a flexible arrangement that allows multiple I/O signals to beconfigured to support either 3.3V or 1.8V. This eliminates the need forexternal voltage translators.
